Last week Eric and Rubie both participated in summer camps. I got Rubie and Julie Huddleston signed up for Cross Country Camp. Her camp T-shirt boasted that "Running is Rad." She was excited but it turned out to be hard. Which of course I loved but she didn't. A couple of days she tried to get out of it. One day they ran more than 2 miles, they ran around the field / yard at the Rec Center and ran for most of the hour all five days. I was glad she did it but I don't think I can talk her into it again. Eric's camp he LOVED! He learned how to do some awesome kicks and impressive tricks. They played lots of games and he came home tired and worked each day. After just the first day his muscles were sore. At first I was worried until he described what they were doing. Each day he went for 4 hours. They were kicking bags and in the air, jumping and flipping, and learning routines. No wonder he was sore. The best is that he loved it and is again super excited to be start black belt training this fall (which actually will be about a month from now). I love to see my children work hard and the experience and learning they gain from it. On Friday they had a demo for the parents to go watch. We had a lot of extra kids to take with us. I had all the Tulett boys, picked up Rubie and Julie and then went to Eric's demo. All the kids were great and it was great entertainment. Eric even received an award from his leaders for being the hardest worker. Eric really likes to be recognized for his effort. It makes me proud of him to know that he works hard and really tries.
Rubie finally started taking piano lessons from Jackson Jenkins. He seems to be a great teacher. She is practicing each day and so far is obedient and excited about it.
We had the Tulett's over for a day because Nate and Carlee bought a new home. They moved into a much bigger, newer, beautiful home in North Pleasant Grove. They are a lot closer to us now. We had dinner for Nate and Carlee and his parents that night too.
Scott's birthday was actually last weekend. I tried to get a babysitter but being a holiday weekend, Pioneer Day, everyone had plans with family and were not available. So we went out as a family. We went to see the Jungle Book at the Watergarden Theater. It was delightful. It was Sam's first movie in a theater and it was a good experience. We had a row to ourselves, which was good because Sam didn't stay in his seat but entertained himself at moments by moving throughout the row and trying out different seats. Then we went to dinner at the Pizza Pie Cafe. Monday Scott took Eric and Rubie to the Spanish Fork rodeo with the Harrisons. They got me a ticket too, but I just did not want to go. One of the hardest things for me about summer is that everyone in the family wants to stay up until 10 every night. It makes me very tired and I have a hard time getting up to exercise. So I just didn't want to be out that late. I do enjoy the rodeo and I think it is fun, but I just didn't feel like it. I didn't have a babysitter for Sam and also knew he wouldn't sit in the crowded bleachers long, even it was entertaining. Sam had also had 3 days last week of being sick and has taken some time to recover too.
Right now Eric is playing at the Platts, he loves playing there because of all the kids to get involved in their games. Also the Wilkes grandkids are around too. One of the Wilkes, Brandon, and his family moved into the ward and they have a son Eric's age. So there are all these boys that play games with nerf guns and other weapons. It seems super fun for them. They also love to get night games going. Rubie is at Paige's house. There is always drama with the neighborhood girls of Rubie, Paige, Kiana, and Julie. They all have strong personalities and aren't always forgiving or flexible of each other. Sam is playing with Connor next to me here as I type away. They are playing well together today which is nice. Sometimes they can be a little difficult with each other, meaning Connor trying to take toys and Sam hitting or vice versa. Scott is downstairs in his office on a call. The dishes are done but the rest of the house is a mess. I got visiting teaching done this morning. I worked out to T25 and P90X2 this morning. I would love a bike ride and to clean up the house more, but also have a Sunday School lesson to plan.
