Friends Started School We Did Not

This week our neighborhood friends started back to school, but Eric and Rubie did not.  That made it a little rough on all of us.  That also meant all of our babysitters were in school too.  We did start back to karate and had good classes both days.  We took the summer off but I still see Eric and Rubie progressing.  We do have a new form to learn before belt promotion at the end of September, but we will get it.  The Warner's actually didn't start school this week and so Wednesday they came down and went to the Museum of Natural Curiosity with us.  I was so surprised to still see it so busy.  We did not have to wait in line to get in, but he parking lot was full and there still seemed to be so many people inside.  I really want to see if it gets less busy.  It would be so fun to explore it without so many other people there.  I actually lost Eric for awhile.  He left the Rain forest room and went into a different room without telling me.  I had the workers looking for him.  But he finally showed up.  It was hard to get my workouts in without the babysitters.  I took all the kids to the AF rec center with me one day and put them in the daycare there.  Eric wasn't too thrilled but did it for me.  I had to take them to the Tulett's after karate one day.  Even Saturday was difficult because we had a soccer game with Rubie and then Scott had a lunch planned with some other guys.  I had an hour run and 2 hour bike ride that I didn't get to start until almost 2:30.  Then we went and hung out at the Lawrence's with other team members and their families.  Most of them had just done the Utah Half that morning.  It seemed like everyone had such a good race and lots of people placed and or had a PR.  Made me really wish I could have been there.  I need to have another event to look forward to.

Thursday was meet your teacher day.  Rubie will be in Mrs Soderstrom's class.  Rubie is really excited and I really hope it will be a great experience for her.  Eric has been put in Mrs. Davis' class.  Mrs. Davis is new to AHS this year.  She seems like she will be a good teacher.  Eric is excited about some of his classmates including Cam, Jordan, and a few others.

Umm, now I need to spend time with Scott.

Scott gave Eric and Rubie each a Father's blessing for the school year.  I quickly wrote down some notes from each blessing.

To Rubie:
  • bless her with patience with herself, her teacher, her mother as she learns
  • that her self-image will improve and strengthen as she learns
  • that she will be friendly to other kids in her class
  • that she will be friends with those that are lonely, are not as well liked or need friends
  • that she will be able to access the gifts that Heavenly Father has blessed her with
  • that she will be able to understand difficult things through the Spirit and practice
  • that she will enjoy learning and enjoy her time in school and at AHS
To Eric:
  • bless that the Spirit will magnify your understanding and learning
  • that you will find joy in simple things like homework, reading, time in the classroom
  • that the Light of Christ will shine through you for others to see
  • that others will feel of Heavenly Father's love for them through you
  • that you will commit yourself to routines and the results will please you and prepare you for future career and service in the kingdom
  • that you will develop and gain skills to further the work of our Father in Heaven
  • that you will help your sister at school and be a friend to her
