Cousins came to town

This last week Ben and Cassie and family came Utah to visit.  Ben has finished his time in the military and they are figuring out what is next.  Ben and Cassie have been looking for jobs in Utah and homes here and are trying to sell their home in Washington.  If all that works out they will try to move to Utah.  They are looking to live near mom and dad so that mom can be their daycare option.  We hope things work out so they can move here because we want to have them closer, but if it doesn't we just hope things work out for the best.  But we sure love spending time with them.

Tuesday we went to the zoo with our cousins.  We (me and my kids) drove up to the Hogle Zoo, mom came with Ben and his kids (Koen, Heidi, Meja, and Addy), and Tai came with her two boys Jaxon and Madden.  We didn't see everything.  The kids were just running quickly from thing to thing and then every one got tired right around lunch time.  So by then we ate put the kids on the carousel and then went to ride the train and by that time the littlest kids were done and needed naps badly.  But that was most of the day and was a lot of fun.

Wednesday was a ward dinner and pool party.  I do enjoy our ward.

Scott left to drill Friday morning will be home sometime later today.

Yesterday Rubie had a soccer game in the morning.  I like that she has 4 other little girls from the ward on her team.  After I went for a bike ride.

Then I thought I would see if Ben and Cassie were still around and what they were up to.  Ben had Addy and was on his way to visit his friend Robbie and his mom, but Cassie was going with the other kids and my mom and Joe and Tai to the Ogden Temple open house and then to Joe and Tai's for dinner.  They said they didn't invite us because they didn't think I would want to come up that far with the kids so late.  They were right but I also wanted the kids to spend time with their cousins.  Because I hadn't yet showered or cleaned up from my ride I thought we would just meet up at Joe and Tai's with everyone else.  Then when I hung up with Joe, I really felt through the inspiration of the Spirit that I should also take my kids to the temple open house.  Only through the help of the Spirit did we make it there on time.  We arrived at Joe and Tai's right at 4:30, even before they were ready and before mom and Cassie arrived.

The Ogden temple has been totally re-done.  It does not even look like the same building, inside or out.

From the examiner.com:

The Odgen, Utah LDS temple has been a staple in the medium-sized Utah city.  Built from 1969 to 1972, it has been part of the city's religious history and a landmark.  Today, officials from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that the Ogden temple will be undergoing a complete renovation.
The inside of the temple will undergo very few changes, with reconfiguration of some rooms.  The major renovation, however, is taking place on the outside.  The temple is getting a facelift.  The entire outside structure will be redone with new stone and glass.  The entrance will also be moved.  The renovation is scheduled to begin later this year or early 2011.  Ogden mayor, Matthew Godfrey, commented on today's announcement:

Ogden, Utah Temple Upon Completed Renovation (lds.org
“I am thrilled with the announcement today.  The improvements to the temple and the grounds will be a beautiful addition to our city.”
The Odgen temple district currently covers 76 stakes with approximately 262,000 members.  During the renovation, members are encouraged to attend the Logan and Bountiful temples.

The temple was beautiful!  It was completely crowded.  There was a line to get into every part of the open house and a line that never ended through the temple.  But the Church has these things down.  There were lots of volunteers and it ran so smoothly and the lines moved fast considering they were so long.  Of course Samuel was hard to contain and would not be still.  While we were outside he was fine to roam.  The tour started with a video and was in a room made on the outside of the building, and there was gravel as part of the landscape--oh those were great throwing rocks.  I had to take him out and then he freaked out when the little white booties were put on him.  So I just carried him all the way through the temple.  Which was fine.

I hope that Eric and Rubie will remember that they saw the inside of the temple.  I hope they remember that they felt peaceful and close to Heavenly Father while we were inside.  I hope that having gone inside the beautiful temple they have a desire to enter the temple again.
