The Year of Eight

Rubie turned 8 on Monday, August 8th.  This should be a great year for her.  Turning 8 on 8/8.  She is turning into such a lovely young woman.  We celebrated with a birthday party on Friday, August 5th.  Some friends were going out of town that she wanted at her birthday party so we had it on that day.  She wanted to have her party at Color Me Mine.  We invited Paige, Kiana, Julie, and cousins Heidi and Meja.  My mom brought Ben and Cassie's children down from Kaysville.  Mom stayed at the house with Eric, Sam, Addie, and Koen while I took all the girls to Provo to Color Me Mine.  It was a fun party.  It seemed that the girls really had a good time.  They were able to pick out a ceramic item to paint, they picked the paints and then sat at the table to paint and visit and laugh.  I had put out some Laffy Taffy's on the table and we laughed as we shared the silly jokes.  I totally thought it would take maybe an hour for the girls to paint.  But it really took them almost the whole two hours.  There wasn't a party right after us and so we weren't that rushed.  I had a game of Pass the Present and cupcakes to eat.  We were there over 2 hours.  I can go pick up the projects some time today.  For Rubie's birthday on Monday we started it off by going to IHOP for breakfast.  Sam was convinced that there should be a place to hop and was so disappointed there wasn't a bounce house. Ha, ha, ha!!  I took Eric to walmart to get Rubie a present.  Pokemon has made a comeback and the kids want to do the trading cards again.  They have been doing Pokemon battles with the cards.  It seems fun but it can also be a source of contention if Rubie isn't always winning.

Rubie wanted to go see  the movie "Secret Life of Pets" with the family that night.  So we went to the new amazing, beautiful theater off of Geneva Road in Orem to see the movie.  We all loved it!  It was the 2nd time we took Sam to the theater.  As long as he can lay on the chairs and cuddle with me he enjoys it.  That theater had nice leather seats.  The arm rests moved up and down so he totally enjoyed it.  It is a cute movie and all the kids want it on Amazon soon so we can purchase it and add it to our library.
