Girls Camp

Have I mentioned that we have a new car?  It isn't anything spectacular or the dream car that we have always wanted.  But it is newer and therefore reliable.  The X-Terra finally is dying.  The head gasket isn't holding out much longer.  It started to go out last year and the mechanics were able to do a little fix to it but they weren't sure how long it would last.  It has lasted a year but now it could quit anytime leaving us stranded somewhere.  That is kind of a big risk to take.  Our credit score is not where it needs to be yet to get a Tahoe or something like that.  So we had to take what was available based on our credit score, what the banks would loan us, the parameters on the vehicle based on the bank's loan, and what we could find.  That ended up being a 2009 Dodge Journey.  It has 3 rows so that is a big plus.  I miss the sturdiness and off-road-ing capabilities of the X-terra, and the cargo space.  But this will do until we can upgrade.  It was nice to have a comfortable vehicle available for girls camp.

This past week I attended another girls camp.  The theme was the mutual theme of D&C 4:2 Embark in the service...and Harry Potter.  It worked out well together.  We camped at Heritage Grove Campground East in the foothills of Mt. Pleasant.  It was a great camp and I would love to go there again and even have a family and/or friend reunion there.  It has showers, grass, a lake, more grassy fields, sand volleyball court, basketball court, and a great pavilion with numerous tent sites.  We left Monday morning and returned Thursday afternoon.  We did the Snow College ropes course, went on a hike, played Quiditch, had a faith walk, a fireside, testimony meetings, play time, certification, and lots of opportunities to teach, serve, cook, eat, and earn points for our "houses." It was a great camp and I was very impressed with how well the girls got along and were so willing to pitch in and participate and be involved with each other.

Scott is super busy and so I knew I needed places for the children to go each day.  Sunday night they (all 3 of them) were able to spend the night at the Jarvis.  Monday, Sarah took them all to the Provo Rec Center pool, then back here to our home until Scott was able to come home.  Tuesday morning Scott took the children to Ben and Cassie's.  My mom watched all the kids during the day and they spent the night there Tuesday night and then Scott went back to get them Wednesday after work.  Thursday Eric had cub scout day camp at camp Jeremiah Johnson and Rubie and Sam went to Brandee's.  When I returned from girls camp I was able to get my stuff put away, have a shower, start laundry, and then begin cleaning up the house / kitchen from the week.

We have been trying to catch up with cleaning and going to the pool and reading and such.  Looking forward to another week of summer.  Rubie will have a cooking class, gymnastics, and I hope to get Eric a guitar and start guitar lessons.
